The Community Law Program provides voluteer attorneys who give free legal assistance on most civil legal matters to indigent clients who live in Pinellas County south of Ulmerton Road.

How to get help
Choose ONE of the following ways to get help:

  Community Law Program conducts advice clinics at 501 1st Avenue North, Room 502, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 and at the James T. Sanderlin Family Service Center at 2335 22nd Ave S, St. Petersburg. There are no clinics on Mondays. The Sanderlin Center advice clinic begins at 1 p.m. For an appointment with a family law or "other" attorney, call 727-321-9444. Each Wednesday the Courthouse Legal Assistance Project is open from 10 - 12 noon to see qualified individuals on a first come, first serve basis. Any type of civil issue may be presented. Each Wednesday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m., volunteer attorneys conduct intake interviews at Gulfcoast Legal Services office; call 727-821-0726 for an appointment. Every Thursday, volunteer attorneys review completed Florida Supreme Court Approved Simplified Family Law forms for pro se litigants with family law issues. Call 727-582-7402 for an appointment. On the first and third Thursday of the month, a Forms 101 class is offered to help people complete petitions for dissolution of marriage or petitions to establish paternity in a class room setting (10 - 11:30 a.m.). Call 727-582-7402 for an appointment. On the first and third Fridays of the month, volunteer attorneys meet with individuals to discuss their landlord tenant and other housing issues at Gulfcoast Legal Services' office (641 1st St. S). Call 821-0726 for an appointment. On the second Friday of the month, qualified individuals can speak with a bankruptcy attorney about their financial situation between 9 - 11 a.m. at 501 1st Ave N, Room 502. Call 727-582-7402 for appointment and bankruptcy questionnaire.

  Cross Streets: Between 5th and 6th St. on 1st Ave. N. on the northwest corner
  Directions: Downtown St. Pete. From US 19 head east on Central Ave. to 5th St. turn left to 1st Ave. N. There is a parking lot for the 501 Building on the southwest corner. We are on the fifth floor.

Clients who live south of Ulmerton Road are eligible for our services unless they live in Largo. Largo residents and those north of Ulmerton Road are served by Gulfcoast Legal Services 443-0657.
Languages for which interpreters can be provided: Client should bring their own interpreter.

Access for the deaf: It is suggested they bring someone to interpret.
Income Guidelines: 
  Your family's income should be at or below 125.0% of the poverty level.

  Must live in South Pinellas County. Residents of Largo and those north of Ulmerton Road are not elegible for our services and should contact ulfcoast LegalServices of Clearwater at 727-443-0657
 
A one time visit for those $500 or loess over the income guidelines to our Wednesday Legal Assistance Project Clinic from 10-12.

Types of Services
This firm provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources:
 
  Full Legal Representation- Qualified clients can obtain wills, power of attorney, living wills, and health care directives. Clients requesting assistance in Family Law matters are asked to obtain the family law forms from the clerk's office or internet and attend one of our Family Law Clinics. All cases referred to volunteer attorneys for full representation originate from one of our clinics and are based on thour priorities and the availability of a volunteer attorney.
  Brief Advice- The majority of our services provided are brief services offered during our clinics.
  Pro Se Legal Clinic- Weekly clinics assist qualified pro se litigants by reviewing their completed family law forms.
  Self-Help Materials- Community Law offers samples of all Family Law forms through our pro se project. Clients may come to our pro se clinic and review a sample of the particular form they need to file.
