What Lee County Legal Aid Society does:

LCLAS is a non-profit, community-based agency that focuses on helping clients with limited income by providing quality legal representation while promoting financial and emotional stability.

Through collaboration within the legal community, for-profit and non-profit agencies, Lee County’s most vulnerable citizens are positively affected through improved access to justice, education, health services, and family stability, leading to a greater quality of life. 


Types of issues or cases handled:

  • Dissolution of Marriage with minor children –   May include establishing parenting-plan, child support, alimony, distribution of property, assets, and debts.
  • Dissolution of Marriage without minor children – Advice and counsel only. 
  • Establishment of Paternity/Time-sharing – Including establishing a parenting plan and child support.
  • Temporary Custody by Extended Family Member – Where a family member within the third degree wants to have legal rights to ensure the best interest of a child.
  • Step-Parent Adoption – Where the biological parents agree to the adoption.

Income and other eligibilty information:

You must also have a civil legal issue that Lee County Legal Aid Society handles.
Your household income must be at or below 125% of the poverty level as established by the federal government, or 200% of the poverty level if the applicant has other extenuating circumstances.
